* dog friendly * Lovely find. Authentic Italian at a reasonable price. We're here out of season and they are fully booked on a Thursday night. The food was delicious and the service super friendly. Don't go anywhere else in Paignton if you want a delicious meal.
Lovely little Italian a few minutes walk from Paignton beach front. The food was amazing, you can tell how fresh everything is including the bread, it really makes a difference. There are rotated chefs specials and desserts which juat emphasise the freshness. The service was lovely, just what you'd expect from a very intimate family setting. Book in advance as there are only a handful of tables so you are not guaranteed walking through the door. Fortunately they were able to fit us in with 45mins and it's not hard to kill 45mins at the beach. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be back again!
My wife and I stumbled across Mediterraneo almost by accident when our train at Paignton was cancelled. We initially went in just for a coffee as it was a little earlier than we'd usually eat dinner at 17.50, however the front of house lady was so friendly and welcoming, and the place was lovely with an authentic air, we thought it best to stay for dinner. We were very glad we did! The food was very authentic italian, with the breads, pasta and desserts all being beautifully cooked and delicious. My wife generally complains that Italian restaurants in the UK always cook pasta softer, for the English palate, but was very happy to find the pasta at Mediterraneo was cooked al dente. Even as the place got busy, the front of house staff stayed happy and friendly, taking our and other customers requests in her stride. We don't come to Torbay often, just once a year, but you can be assured we will be visiting Mediterraneo again next year.
I am Italian, and I can tell you.. I feel like home there! Food 5 stars! Service even better as have someone to speak also italian for us is something special. We enjoyed a delicious meal in a cozy and beautifully inviting atmosphere. We ordered pizza, pork steak, and a mixed grill, all of which were high-quality dishes. To top it off, we finished with a delightful limoncello.
Amazing meal. It was our first time and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Service was amazing and tentative. Food was superb!!
